My Favorite Quotes;
* You guys really rock for a bunch old guys.(unfortunate soul, no longer with us) * Quoted from an article about the Hiway 99 Blues Club owner Ed Maloney by Rocky Nelson - ""...but the hub of of this wheel is the blues, and if you like any kind of American music but you're not into the blues, then you just can't appreciate the real value of everything else."

I attended the Tim Hall Blues Jam at Dawson's in Tacoma. This jam is still going strong and attended by some very fine musicians. I got to do a set with Mike Coucoules, Sonny Schaaf, Kenny Williamson, MS Lori McGraw, Jeff Mason. Come on down on Sunday nights for your Blues fix. Kim Archer was there delivering her version of soul!

I have booked several gigs at Java Flow, a coffee house with locations in Olympia and Tillcum. These are solo acoustic nights in a more subdued environment, all ages allowed. A real change from the bars and roadhouses I normally frequent. During the winter months here in Tacoma, finding a place to play is not always easy, so I go out looking for warm , dry places with fresh coffee. Be sure to check the schedule for accurate dates and times at Malcolm Clark Gigs schedule. Please note that all dates band performance dates unless solo or other special conditions apply.

O'Callihan's acoustic open mic starts this month in Lakebay. I look forward to seeing some old friends out in that neck of the woods and making some music. You can eMail me for more info.

I was contacted recently by Jim Gindick of Harmonica Jam Camp Central for an upcoming Harmonica camp to be held in Gig Harbor, WA. in May 2008. He has asked that the Malcolm Clark Band be the backup support group for his students. This is gonna be some fun and hopefully I will run into some old friends and make some new ones.

A Rhapsody In Bloom was a great night for some video. Although the crowd was sparse, the conditions to shoot video was excellent. I would like to thank Denise for offering her venue and the great overabundance of coffee that I consumed. Look for the videos here on our website or at MySpace and also on YouTube.

Aug 28 07

* Blondie's gigs have been cancelled. A new Blondie's is in the works and hopefilly all goes well for the owners and staff.

* New photos added to JR's Hideaway and LouStaag 07.

* New photos added to V-Amp Pro Project. In cooperation with my friend Dave Miner, we are building a new amp based on the inexpensive Behringer V-Amp Pro. Check out the progress.
July 19 07
* JR's Hideaway - This Belfair Blues Jam and Open Mic has been going on now since the first part of February. Since the initial "jam", we have moved from Lil Moe's to Jr's down the street. JR's is providing live music on the weekend with some of our favorite "Blues Bands."

* Got some new equipment for testing. What is the new equipment?
Carvin SX-100
Behringer V-AMP Pro
Roland Blues Cube 60
* I am looking forward to using the Blues Cube. Since I purchaed it eight years ago, I have not used it once on stage for a complete gig. It has broken the three times I have used it and the three warranty repairs have yielded no favorable results. I was just gutting the cabinet and decided to let Brian Wren of Belfair the opportunity to pull his hair out fixing the amp. He did it! We'll see if it is really fixed this time.

* The V-Amp Pro is part of a custom amp that I am working on with old time Aberdeen friend Dave Miner. He is building a very cool and compact solid state amp to the V-Amp project. Pictures to follow. Dave has worked in the defense filed for years and was one of the persons who developed real-time digitizing for moon photos that actually showed a discarded .011 nickle plated guitar string on the dark side of the moon. To date, no one knows how the string got there.

* The Carvin has been reviewed as a very good amp, clean and powerful, just like me.If you are interested in buying this amp, please contact me before I put my signature on it. As we all know, adding my signature to the amp will add an approiximate additional value of $800-$900 to its' sale price.

* The Mandolin Cafe is under new ownership and management. I have booked a December gig there, even though last year, four gigs in a row were cancelled due to poor weather conditions. I am looking forward to playing there. There is enough room for half of the people to enjoy the music and the other half can do their homework while we interrupt their train of thoughts with some Schmooze and Blues.

May 31 07

Tim Hall is still running with the Blues at Dawson's on 56th and South Tacoma Way, Sunday evenings. Tim has been the king of Blues Jams here in the Tacoma area for as long as I have been in music. There is always great music and you never know who will be there to jam. Looking to make some contacts? Try this jam out.

Jan 15 2007
Dawson's Again on 56th and South Tacoma Way is hosting Dustin Lafferty and 9 Pound Hammer for an acoustic open mic. You will find many great musicians here on Monday evenings. A very mellow, laid back session. The first night heard the likes of Glen Harrell, Mike Coucoules, Gant Eichrodt, Malcolm Clark and more. This was the first open mic at Dawson's and the beginning of more.

Dec 15
Well, another club has cancelled live music and gone to DJ. Lennard K's in Allyn would host the last night of live music with the Malcolm Clark Band on Dec 16, but due to the major wind storm, the gig was cancelled and so is live music.

Nov 2
I am sorry to say that all Union Bay gigs have been cancelled. It seems that we have developed a problem with maintaining our bookings. We are not the only group suffering from the current economy. Let's support the live music venues that are still supportng live music.

Sept 29
I am sorry to say that ALL Seafarer's gigs are cancelled.

Mike Coucoules and I did a gig at The Mandolin Cafe on So. 12th in Tacoma. What a great place and Russ Bevill did the sound what created ambience beyond anyone's imagination. We're going to do this again soon!

Sept 19
I am removing the guestbook and email signup temporarily until I can fixup a span filter. We have gotten so many sex ads in the last three weeks and none of them work.

Sept 18
I am playing with Nicole Fournier this Wednesday Sept 20 at Rhapsody in Bloom, 3906 6th Ave., Tacoma 7:30-9:30
That is really cool. All ages coffee house. This should be a blast. Nicole is one of the Northwest's finest Blues peoples around.

On another note, The Tim Hall Band has been cut from the lineup at City Nights on 6th and Tacoma Ave. Sorry to see that jam go bye bye but Tim will get another going somewhere. His Blues jams have become a staple of the Tacoma blues guys' diet.

Sept 5
Here is some unexpected news; The Malcolm Clark Band has been awarded the 1st Annual Weekly Volcano Music Award Winner for Blues. We are looking forward to the awards show at JazzBones on Sept 23. Our time slot will be from 7:30-8:10pm

Aug 08
Well, another cancellation of my friend Dustin Laffertys' acoustic open mic at City Nights has been cancelled.

July 31
I just heard that the Billy Shew Blues Jams at City Nights in Tacoma have been cancelled. This is very disheartning since this was only week two that the club has been hosting live music. Live blues is dwindling as well as the clubs that host it. The deciding factor is the till at the end of the night. I hope that the music scene changes for us soon. There is a lot of talent in the Puget Sound area and fewer places to show it.

July 26
I had the chance to attend the Tim Hall Jam (Tuesday Nights) and Dustin Lafferty's Acoustic Open Mic (Wednesday Nights) at City Nights(which is attached to City Lights Pool Hall) on 6th and Tacoma Avenue in Tacoma. Nice room with stage lighting and PA. Very nice with some great possibilites in the future. If you get the chance, check it out.

July 8
All future O'Callihan's gigs have been cancelled.

July 07, 2006

The Cafe Pegaso is a new club/coffee house in Dupont, WA (exit 118) that serves micro brews and wine. We are working on getting a steady gig there for acoustic/light trio gigs. Dec 1 The Shire

A great night with Dave Shriver on bass and Mike Lacey on drums. We had a special treat with Dr. John Bridges gving us all an adjustment with his fine guitar playing. Also a new face with Steve Kattenbaker doing some solo work.

Nov 21 Morgan Art Centre
Malcolm shared billing with Fuzzy Logic (Justin & Lucy) at 7pm. Special guest Dave Shriver on bass was certainly a welcome addition to the evening. The music was exceptional and a big thanks to the Morgans for their support of live music.

Nov 20 The Shire - Blues Allstars My good friends Karl Thurmond, Mike Coucoules and Harry Logan will be performing tonight at the Shire. Hey, if some of those names sound familiar, that is because Mike Coucoules and Harry Logan play in the Malcolm Clark Band. Great show!
